KCC baseball sweeps Lewis & Clark

GODFREY, Ill. - The Kirkwood baseball team broke into the victory  column Saturday by sweeping a doubleheader from Lewis and Clark, 9-2  and 14-2.

The twin-killing lifted the Eagles to 2-4 for the campaign.

Brook Heinen went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs in the 9-2  victory in the opener. He also scored twice. Josh Fitzgerald was  3-for-5 with two triples in the leadoff spot and scored three times.

Kyle Moeder belted a home run and drove in two runs in Game 1. Evan  Paulus also had two RBIs.

Luke Llewellyn pitched six strong innings for the victory. He was  touched for two runs, but both of them were unearned. He struck out 12  batters and walked four.

Joel Vaske went 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBIs in the 14-2 victory  in a five-inning game in the nightcap. He also scored twice.

Fitzgerald went 2-for-3 with a home and two RBIs. He scored three  times. Gabe Lux was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Heinen and  D'Eric Shenault scored twice. Cade Moss was 2-for-3.

Rian Yates pitched four innings for the victory in Game 2. He allowed  two runs, both of them unearned, and had five strikeouts.
