Steve Fish of Marion High School and Bret Hoyer of Kennedy were honored as Coach of the Year winners at the 44th annual Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association banquet Saturday night at the Marriott Hotel in Cedar Rapids.
Fish was named Class 3A Northeast District Coach of the Year after guiding the Indians to the semifinals of the state tournament. He also was saluted at the banquet for joining the 500 Win Club last season.
Hoyer was named the Class 4A Northeast District Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to the state tournament.
Chris Oberbroeckling of Marion was honored as the Umpire of the Year for the Northeast District. Brenda Kalamaja of the Marriott staff received the Bill and Sherry Freese "Contributor of the Year" Award.
