Matt JenkinsMatt Jenkins has resigned as the boys basketball coach at Xavier High School, activities director Mike Winker  announced Friday afternoon.

Jenkins compiled a 24-43 record in three years as head coach. The Saints finished 10-13 overall this season and 8-8 in the Mississippi Valley Conference, placing fourth in the Valley Division.

"This was a tough decision, but it is best for me and my family," Jenkins said in a news release. "I have enjoyed coaching the young men at Xavier and wish them continued success.

"I would also like to thank the administration for giving me the opportunity to help young people through the game of basketball."

Jenkins plans to remain a faculty member at Xavier and help with the track program.

"I want to thank Matt for his outstanding leadership of the basketball program at Xavier," Winker said in the release. "Matt is an excellent role model for our students and it has been a pleasure working with Matt both
personally and professionally."
