Xavier lost its fist game of the season Tuesday against Cedar Rapids Washington, but that didn't knock the Saints out of the top spot in the Class 2A girls soccer rankings released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Xavier (5-1) is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A ahead of Glenwood (6-0).

Kennedy (5-1) slipped three spots to No. 8 in the Class 3A poll after suffering a loss to Prairie (7-3). The Hawks are ranked No. 12 in Class 2A.

Washington (4-1) held onto the No. 9 spot in the Class 3A poll.
