Prairie girls 3rd in own invitational

Kerstin Flugum shot an 81 and Emily Machula an 82 to lead Prairie to a third-place finish at its own girls golf invitational Thursday at Airport National.

Prairie and Linn-Mar tied with 334 team scores, but Linn-Mar was awaded second place based on the score of each team's fifth golfer.

Marion's Ashley Reed shot the low round for a Metro golfer with a 78.

Newton won the meet with a 325. The Cardinals' Hannah Long was medalist with a 75.
