Addison Johnson hit a homer during a seven-run outburst in the sixth inning Monday night as the Marion Indians topped Benton Community, 7-1, in the first game of a Wamac Conference doubleheader at Marion.

The Bobcats returned the favor in the second game, winning by the same count of 7-1.

Mitch Wagner, Alex Charipar and Sean McGarvey had two hits for Marion (16-8, 9-5) in the opener. Wagner collected a double and triple.

Tyler Hedtke pitched a complete game for the Indians in the first game. He scattered six hits and struck out five batters.

Jonny Frese tossed a complete game for Benton in the second game. He allowed five hits and struck out four batters.

Marion pitcher Cale Cannoy left the second game after being hit in the ribs by a batted ball. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays.
