Warriors spanked by Waterloo West

PDF

WATERLOO - Waterloo West's Lindsey Hansen had a night for the ages as the Wahawks won big Thursday versus Cedar Rapids Washington.

Hansen finished the doubleheader 6-for-6 with four home runs and six RBIs to lead West to a pair of five-inning wins, 22-11 and 10-0.

"She was on fire," said West Coach Tammy Utley.

When Hansen wasn't clearing the fence she was still getting on base - drawing three walks - and the rest of the lineup had no trouble bringing her home. The Wahawks (10-24, 8-16) combined for 26 hits in the doubleheader and all 22 runs in the opener were earned.

"We were putting the ball in play, scoring runners in scoring position and that's what it takes," Utley said. "It was a great night."

Washington fell to 4-31 overall and 2-22 in the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Jaclyn Spencer was 5-for-7 with five RBIs and a pair of doubles while Courtney Medina helped the game-one outburst with a double, triple and three RBIs.
