GALENA, Ill. - Metro golf teams ran into a buzzsaw Thursday at the Drex Fall Shootout in Galena, Ill.

West Des Moines Valley, Johnston and Dowling Catholic placed 1-2-3 in the team standings as the clubs from the CIML took care of the Mississippi Valley Conference squads.

Jeff Swegle of Valley took medalist honors with an even-par 72 at the Eagle Ridge Resort North Course and two of his teammates tied for second.

Davis Sutton of Kennedy shot a 3-over 75 to finish fifth in the individual standings and help the Cougars place fourth in the team results.

Zach Gothard shot a 6-over 78 to help the Washington Warriors place sixth. Ben Sagers shot an 8-over 80 as the Xavier Saints finished seventh.

Jacob Sevcik shot a 78 as Linn-Mar placed eighth. Zach Denny shot an 81 as Jefferson finished 12th.
