CEDAR FALLS - Kennedy used seven top six finishes to earn third place Saturday in the Marcussen Invitational girls swimming meet at Holmes Junior High.

Waukesha South won nine of 12 events to win the meet with 544 points. Host Cedar Falls was second with 444.

Kennedy had 256 points. Dubuque Senior, which had a pair of event winners, was fourth with 232 points.

Washington finished seventh with 147 points. Jefferson was last in the 11-team meet with 16 points.

Victoria Spaulding had the top finish for Kennedy with a second-place showing in diving. The Cougars were third in the medley relay and Carolyn Simon was fourth in diving. Sam Jacobsen was fifth in the 200 freestyle and Hannah Botkin fifth in the 50 free. Jessica Schmeiser finished sixth in the 100 free and the Cougars' 200 free relay also finished sixth.

Washington's Jackie Hughes finished fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 200 individual medley. The Warriors' Amy Parker was fifth in diving.

Jefferson did not have any finishers in the top six.
