Xavier held on to its No. 7 spot and Marion did likewise at No. 10 in the Class 4A volleyball rankings released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Xavier swept unranked Class 5A opponent Waterloo West in its only match of the past week.

Marion reached the semifinals of last weekend's Waterloo Columbus tournament and finished with a 4-1 mark. The Indians also swept unranked Vinton-Shellsburg on Tuesday and are tied for first place in the Wamac West Division.

Sioux City Heelan is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A. Wamac Conference members Solon (sixth), Maquoketa (eighth) and West Delaware (ninth) also are in the rankings.

Ankeny is ranked No. 1 in Class 5A. Mississippi Valley Conference members Dubuque Hempstead (third), Iowa City High (fourth), Cedar Falls (seventh) and Iowa City West (10th) also are ranked.

Fourteen ranked teams will play in Saturday's Westside Invitational at Jefferson. Those teams are No. 1 Dike-New Hartford from Class 2A, No. 3 Tripoli from Class 1A, No. 7 West Liberty, No. 8 Mount Vernon and No. 13 Waterloo Columbus from Class 3A, Xavier, Maquoketa, West Delaware, Marion and No. 12 Dubuque Wahlert from Class 4A, and Hempstead, No. 5 West Des Moines Dowling, No. 9 Urbandale and Iowa City West from Class 5A.
