Larry Niemeyer has been hired as the new softball coach at Waterloo West High School, keeping the veteran coach in the Mississippi Valley Conference.

Niemeyer, 74, was not retained as the softball coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson after the 2012 summer campaign.

Niemeyer has compiled a 2,089-429 record in 52 years as the softball coach at Adel and Jefferson with four state titles.

He is the winningest high school softball coach in the country.
