PDF

Marion won the first set, but No. 13 Wahlert came storming back to claim the next three and knocked the No. 10 Indians out of the Class 4A regional volleyball tournament Thursday night at Marion.

The loss ended Marion's season at (26-14).

Marion claimed the first set, 25-20. Wahlert bounced back to win the second, 25-18.

Marion battled back from a 17-10 deficit in the third set to take a 24-23 lead. An ace serve by Wahlert finally gave the Golden Eagles the set, 28-26.

Wahlert then rolled to a 25-17 win in the fourth set.

Alyssa Thomas led the Indians with 11 kills and two blocks. Amanda Sahm had 28 assists and Abby Phillips 19 digs.

"We have had a great season and have improved tremendously this season," Roxanne Paulsen said. "Tonight was just not our night.

"We were a step slow up front blocking and never really slowed Wahlert down up front.  The girls played hard and Wahlert did what they needed to to walk away with the win.

"Our seniors have had a great season and we will miss them next season."
