WATERLOO -- Kennedy took another step toward a return trip to the state volleyball tournament Thursday night with a three-set rout of Waterloo West in a Class 5A regional semifinal at West.

The ninth-ranked Cougars won by scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-9.

Kennedy advances to Tuesday's regional final at Monticello against No. 3 Dubuque Hempstead. The Mustangs whipped Waterloo East in three straight sets, 25-5, 25-9, 25-8.

The winner of Tuesday's match moves on to the state tournament Nov. 7-10 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
