WEST DES MOINES – Maddie Koolbeck scored 19 points but Jefferson was upended by No. 8 West Des Moines Valley, 66-46, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference girls basketball game.

The loss the J-Hawks' third of the week and dropped their record to 1-4.

Jefferson tallied only 11 field goals and Koolbeck had six. The J-Hawks were 23 of 31 from the free-throw line.

Valley (4-0) was led by sophomore Grace Vander Wiede with 16 points. Emily Smith and Brooke O’Hollearn scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.
