Meier leads Cougars past PV

PLEASANT VALLEY - Madi Meier scored 16 points and Kennedy staged a second-half comeback to beat Pleasant Valley, 47-41, Saturday night in a non-conference girls basketball game.

Kennedy (3-0) trailed 22-15 at halftime. The Cougars outscored Pleasant Valley 20-11 in the third quarter to claim a 35-33 lead.

Stephanie Botkin added nine points and 10 rebounds. Paige Hendrickson scored nine points. Meier grabbed eight rebounds.

The Cougars played without Morgan Martin, who injured her knee in Friday's win over Dubuque Wahlert. Kennedy Coach Tony Vis said Martin was checked by a doctor Saturday and will have an MRI on Monday.

Kennedy is ranked No. 9 in Class 5A.
