Marion boys dunk Washington Demons

Chase Zielke scored 14 points in a balanced attack to lead the Marion boys basketball team in a 61-39 win over Washington (Iowa) Tuesday in Marion.

Jacob Manderscheid scored 12 points for the Indians (3-5), Baylor Fish added 11 and Matthew Pflughaupt scored eight.

Derek Anding led the Washington Demons (2-5) with 16 points.

Marion boys fall to Center Point

The Marion boys basketball team fell behind 10-2 at the start and lost to Center Point-Urbana, 64-44, Friday at Marion.

Jacob Manderscheid had 15 points to lead the Indians, who fell to 2-5.

Grant Dirks scored 14 points for the Stormin’ Pointers (4-3).

Marion boys fall short at Benton

VAN HORNE – The Marion boys basketball team faded in the second half and lost to Benton Community, 50-33, Tuesday at Benton.

The Indians trailed 23-21 at halftime, but they scored just 12 points in the second half. Marion shot only one free throw in the game.

Baylor Fish, Chase Zielke and Chris Mohwinkle each scored six points for Marion (2-4).

Jefferson boys clip Marion

Dennis McKinney scored 13 points Saturday as the Jefferson J-Hawks defeated Marion, 57-41, in a boys basketball game at the Jefferson gym.

Baylor Fish led Marion with 13 points.

Both teams have 2-3 records.

Manderscheid helps Marion top Raiders

WILLIAMSBURG – Jacob Manderscheid scored 14 points to lead the Marion boys basketball team to a 46-41 win over Williamsburg.

The Indians (2-2) used a 16-1 run in the third quarter to build a 21-10 halftime lead. The Raiders came back in the second half, but Marion held on down the stretch.

Williamsburg fell to 0-4.
