Kasey Semler leads Marion into new year

The Metro area is loaded with super-talented basketball players this season with guys like Jarrod Uthoff, Marcus Paige, Josh Oglesby, Matt Bohannon and Wes Washpun.

Don’t forget Kasey Semler.

Semler averaged 16 points for the Marion Indians last season and spent two summers with the Iowa Barnstormers, an elite AAU basketball team that included the likes of Uthoff, Oglesby and Washpun.

Kasey Semler’s 23 lead Indians

MARION — Kasey Semler scored 23 points and Dusty Albaugh added 16 to lead Marion past Vinton-Shellsburg, 70-59, in a Wamac Conference boys basketball game Dec. 10.

Tyler Fisher added 10 points for Marion (3-1, 3-1 Wamac). The Indians made 23 of 28 free throws to salt the game away.

Semler shoots Indians past CCA

TIFFIN — Kasey Semler scored 30 points to send Marion past Clear Creek Amana, 77-71, on Dec. 7 in a Wamac Conference game.

Semler made three 3-pointers.  Dusty Albaugh had a pair of 3s and scored 11 points.

Marion overcame a 37-34 halftime deficit.

Albaugh, Semler lead Indians’ rout

Dusty Albaugh scored 21 points and Kasey Semler added 18 on Dec. 3 as Marion crushed Anamosa, 89-34, in a boys basketball game at Marion.

The Indians (1-1, 1-1 Wamac) led, 63-26, at halftime.
