Marion boys sink Vinton-Shellsburg

VINTON – Jacob Mandersheid scored 16 points and Craig Engle added 10 as the Marion boys basketball team clobbered Vinton-Shellsburg Tuesday, 53-38, in Vinton.

The Indians (11-3) pulled away with an 11-4 run in the second quarter.

Austin Bonsack led Vinton-Shellsburg (2-13) with 13 points.

Marion boys notch 10th victory

Craig Engle scored 14 points and Jacob Manderscheid added 10 Friday night as the Marion Indians stopped South Tama, 56-40, in a Wamac Conference basketball game at Marion.

The Indians raised their record to 10-3.

Darius Lasley scored 10 points for South Tama (4-10).

Engle’s 16 points lead Marion boys

VAN HORNE – Craig Engle had 16 points as the Marion boys basketball team improved to 9-3 with a 47-38 win over Benton Community in a Wamac Conference game in Van Horne Tuesday night.

Derek Smith added 10 points for the Indians, who are 5-2 in the conference.

Tucker Schroeder had 19 points for the Bobcats (4-10) and Tyler Eggert had 12 points.

Marion boys at CPU postponed

CENTER POINT – The Marion boys basketball game scheduled for Friday at Center Point-Urbana was postponed because of a power outage at the high school.

A makeup date for the Indians (8-3) at the Stormin’ Pointers (3-7) was not available.

The Marion boys basketball team led 14-4 after the first quarter and 29-9 at halftime in a 57-40 win over Independence on Tuesday in Marion.

Craig Engle had 12 points for the Indians (8-3), and Deshaun Quinn had 10 points.

Jay Wieland and Nick Steger each had seven points for Independence (1-10).
