2nd-ranked Mustangs too much for Indians
Mount Vernon ran out to a 24-point halftime lead and the Mustangs trampled Marion, 64-40, Friday night in a Wamac Conference girls basketball game at Marion.
Mount Vernon (13-1, 12-0 Wamac) led 40-16 at halftime. The Mustangs are ranked second in Class 3A and their only loss has been to 4A second-ranked Linn-Mar.
Beth Knapp's nine points led Marion (4-10, 4-9). The Indians had their three-game winning streak snapped.
