Marion - Boys Cross Country

Marion runs 3rd at West Delaware Invy

MANCHESTER - The Marion Indians finished in third place Tuesday in a tightly bunched field at the West Delaware Invitational cross country meet.

Center Point-Urbana won the boys race with 113 points. Mount Vernon/Lisbon placed second with 124 and Marion was third with 128 points in the 18-team field.

Peter Rethwisch led the Indians in eighth place.

Madison Bach finished in 15th place for the Marion girls as the Indians placed ninth out of 15 teams.

Marion runners claim Washington Invy

WASHINGTON, Iowa - Two, four, six, eight ... Who do we appreciate?

Marion! Marion! Marion!

Marion runners finished 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th Tuesday to help the Indians take first place at the Washington (Iowa) Invitational at the Washington Country Club.

Marion nudged Fort Madison for the title, 32-36.

Peter Rethwisch led the Indians with a second-place showing in 16:37.38. Colton Forster was fourth, Isaac Smith sixth, Cole Kuethe eighth and Hunter Reifschneider 12th to complete the scoring.

Isaac Steffensmeier of Fort Madison ran away with the race in 15:04.86, according to the official scoresheet.

Madison Bach finished third for Marion in the girls race to help the Indians take third in the team standings. Ellen Cannon placed 10th for the Indians.

Marion - Boys Cross Country

Marion boys grab top honors at Independence

INDEPENDENCE - The Marion Indians placed six runners in the top-12 Saturday and ran away with the team championship at the Independence Invitational cross country meet.

Peter Rethwisch finished second to lead the Indians. Cole Kuethe was sixth, Colton Forster seventh, Isaac Smith 10th, Hunter Reifschneider 11th and Jacob Manderscheid 12th in a dominating performance by Marion.

Alex Bernt of Waterloo Columbus won the 5-kilometer race in 17:14, beating Rethwisch by nine seconds.

Freshman Madison Bach finished in fourth place for the Marion girls to help the Indians finish fourth in the team standings. Bach ran the 4-kilometer race in 16:26. Nicole Miller of North Linn was the winner in 15:53.

Bach runs to 3rd place at V-S meet

VINTON - The Marion boys finished second and the girls third Tuesday at the Vinton-Shellsburg Invitational cross country meet.

Vinton-Shellsburg won the boys meet with 33 points. Marion was second with 73 and Benton Community third with 89.

Colton Forster was Marion's top finisher in the boys race at 11th. Cole Kuethe was 12th.

Marion's Madison Bach was third in the girls race.

Benton won the girls meet with 55 points. Vinton-Shellsburg was second with 69 and Marion third with 75.

Marion boys run to 3rd at Cascade

CASCADE - Xavier High School freshman Jenny Dickes finished third out of 90 runners at the Cascade Invitational cross country meet Friday at the Fillmore Fairways Golf Course.

Dickes ran the 4K race in 16:21. Mariah Kauder of Cascade was the champion in 15:53 and Elizabeth Mallon of Davenport Assumption was second in 16:01.

The Xavier girls placed third out of 15 teams in the standings. Marinna Schroud finished 11th for the Saints.

The Marion Indians finished in ninth place. Freshman Madison Bach placed 15th for Marion.

Peter Rethwisch placed 12th in the boys 5K race to help the Marion Indians finish third in the team standings.

Jacob Schmitt placed 14th to help Xavier finish fourth overall.
