Madison Bach wins Metro Spotlight Award

Marion High School junior Madison Bach is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Bach is one of the premier distance runners in Eastern Iowa. She finished second in the Class 3A district meet at Solon Thursday to qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge this Saturday.

Bach finished 37th at the Class 3A state meet last year as a sophomore, but she's ranked 15th in the state this year and will be looking to climb the standings in Fort Dodge.

Bach has enjoyed a solid season for Marion this year. She placed third at the Center Point-Invitational and finished fourth at the Wamac Conference meet, fourth at the West Delaware Invitational and fourth at the Cascade Invitational.

Marion boys, Bach reach state meet

SOLON - Thursday was a good day for the Marion High School cross country program at the Class 3A district meet in Solon.

The Marion boys placed second in their race to qualify their entire team for the state meet in Fort Dodge Nov. 1. Colton Forster finished second for the Indians and Jeremy Fopma was fourth.

In addition, Madison Bach from the Marion girls team finished second in her race to qualify for state as an individual.

Marion - Girls Cross Country

Forster, Fopma pace Marion to 2nd

IOWA CITY - Colton Forster and Jeremy Fopma ran strong races Thursday to help the Marion Indians finish second at the Wamac Conference cross country meet in Iowa City.

Forster placed second in 16 minutes, 38 seconds and Fopma followed right behind in third place in 16:48. Josh Yeager of Center Point-Urbana won the 5K race in 16:10.

Mount Vernon/Lisbon captured the team championship with 40 points. Marion finished second in the 16-team field with 78 points.

The Marion girls placed sixth in their race. Madison Bach finished fourth for the Indians in 15 minutes, 23 seconds.

Shae McEnany of Independence was the winner in 14:59. Williamsburg captured the team championship.

Marion - Girls Cross Country

Marion boys claim North Linn title

COGGON - The Marion High School boys cross country team captured top honors at the North Linn Invitational Saturday in Coggon.

The Indians finished with 81 points for a four-point victory over Center Point-Urbana.

Marion senior Colton Forster placed third in the 19-team event in 16 minutes, 26 seconds. Josh Yeager of Center Point-Urbana won the race in 15:50.

Jeremy Fopma finished seventh for Marion and Myles Bach was 11th.

The Marion girls placed 11th out of 18 teams in their race. Monticello won the championship with 80 points. Adriana Kammerer of Iowa City Regina won the race in 14:08.

Madison Bach led Marion in eighth place in 14:34.

Bach takes 4th for Marion girls

MANCHESTER - Madison Bach of Marion High School placed fourth at the West Delaware Invitational cross country meet Tuesday.

The Indians finished fifth out of 17 teams. Sophia Gilbert of Benton was the medalist. Cascade won the team championship.
