Marion - Girls Cross Country

Bach, Forster pace Marion runners

TROY MILLS - Madison Bach and Colton Forster led the Marion Indians at the North Linn Invitational cross country meet Saturday in Troy Mills.

Bach finished eighth in 15 minutes, 18 seconds as Marion placed 10th out of 18 teams in the girls' standings.

Forster placed ninth in 17:02 as the Indians finished fourth out of 18 teams in the boys' standings.

Marion - Girls Cross Country

Bach, Forster run strong at CPU meet

CENTER POINT - Madison Bach of Marion High School placed second in the girls 4K race at the Stormin Pointer Invitational cross country meet in Center Point Tuesday.

Colton Forster of Marion finished third in the boys 5K race for the Indians.

The Marion girls placed third out of nine teams in their race. The Marion boys finished second out of eight teams.

Marion - Girls Cross Country

Rethwisch, Bach lead Marion runners at Tipton

TIPTON - Peter Rethwisch and Madison Bach of Marion finished 12th in their respective races at the Tipton Invitational cross country meet Tuesday.

Rethwisch covered the 5K course for boys in 18:20. Marion placed sixth out of 21 teams in the standings. Mount Vernon/Lisbon was the champion.

Bach finished the 4K course for girls in 17:19 to help the Indians place eighth out 19 teams in the standings. Davenport Assumption was the champion.

Marion girls 8th at district race

ANAMOSA - The Marion High School girls cross country team finished eighth at the Class 3A district meet at Jones County Park in Anamosa Thursday afternoon.

Ellen Cannon led the Indians in 28th place.

Solon, Davenport Assumption and Mount Vernon/Lisbon finished 1-2-3 in the team standings to qualify for the state meet in Fort Dodge on Oct. 29.

Lauren Benzing of Solon won the race in 15 minutes, 13.5 seconds.

Marion - Girls Cross Country

Marion girls 10th at Wamac Conference meet

MOUNT VERNON - Solon had three finishers in the top eight and held off Williamsburg for the championship of the Wamac Conference girls cross country meet Thursday.

Marion finished 10th. The Indians were led by senior Alexis Timp, who finished 27th, and junior Ellen Cannon, who finished 38th.

Solon junior Lauren Benzing was first, running the 4k race in 15 minutes, 17 seconds. Freshman Alex Smith was third in 15:34 and sophomore Tayvia Hansen was eighth in 16:08.

Solon won with 53 points. The Spartans were followed by Williamsburg (63), Mount Vernon-Lisbon (102), Benton (102) and Clear Creek Amana (148). Marion had 254 points.
