Marion topples Mount Pleasant, 2-0

Marion used two second-half goals to beat Mount Pleasant, 2-0, Monday in boys soccer at Marion.

Ryan Hagen and Enoch Duval scored goals for Marion (5-6).

Hagen, a senior defender, dribbled the ball up and shot from about 25 yards out with 12 minutes to play.  His shot hit the upper right post and deflected in.

Mount Pleasant had many good chances on goal, but freshman keeper Will Byers was up to the challenge with several point blank saves.  Byers had 14 saves for the game.

Byers also got help from junior Steven Hartzler, who saved a sure goal opportunity with a clearance off of the goal line with a few minutes remaining in the game.

With two minutes to go, Enoch Duval pressured and stole the ball from a Mount Pleasant defender, beat the last man and scored with a shot at the far post to ice it.
