Marion girls kicked by Beckman

DYERSVILLE - The 13th-ranked Marion High School girls soccer team lost to Dyersville Beckman, 3-1, in a Wamac Conference match in Dyersville Tuesday.

Holli Jones scored for Marion on a pass from Sheala Rael. Tanea Westhoff had 12 saves for the Indians.

No. 13 Marion girls blank Anamosa

Holli Jones scored the only goal Friday as the 13th-ranked Marion Indians defeated Anamosa, 1-0, in a Wamac Conference soccer match at Marion.

Saige Trca was credited with an assist on the decisive goal.

Tanea Westhoff made four saves for the shutout in her first career start in goal.

No.13 Marion girls boot Mount Vernon

Saige Trca and Holli Jones scored two goals Tuesday night as the 13th-ranked Marion girls soccer team kicked Mount Vernon, 5-0, in a Wamac Conference game at Marion.

Maddie Bach tallied the fifth goal for the Indians. Sheala Rael and Maddie Chambers collected two assists. Tanea Westhoff also had an assist.

Abby Phillips made four saves in goal for the shutout.

4 Metro teams make girls soccer poll

Four Metro teams have cracked the rankings in the first girls soccer poll for the 2015 campaign.

The Linn-Mar Lions are ranked No. 2 in Class 3A and the Kennedy Cougars are listed No. 4. Kennedy is the defending state champion.

The Xavier Saints are ranked No. 3 in Class 2A. The Marion Indians are ranked 13th.

Dowling topped the Class 3A poll and Pleasant Valley topped the 2A rankings.

Marion - Girls Soccer

Schedule set for girls soccer jamboree

The annual girls soccer jamboree will be held at Kingston Stadium this Monday, April 6 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Six Metro teams will participate in the jamboree.

Xavier meets Iowa City Regina in the first match at 3:30 p.m., followed by Jefferson against Iowa City West at 4:20 p.m. and Iowa City High versus Marion at 5:10 p.m.

The final two matches feature Linn-Mar against Prairie at 6 p.m. and Washington against Center Point-Urbana at 6:50 p.m.

All of the contests will last 40 minutes. The admission fee is $2 for all spectators.
