Jones gives Marion girls 3 big assists

MOUNT VERNON — Holli Jones collected three assists Friday to help the Marion Indians nip Mount Vernon, 3-2, in a Wamac Conference soccer match at Mount Vernon.

Saige Trca, Maddie Bach and Sheala Rael scored goals for the Indians.

Erica Kelly played 80 minutes at sweeper and dominated the back line for Marion.

Late Beckman goals topple Indians

DYERSVILLE - Marion keeper Abby Phillips kept Dyersville Beckman at bay for 60 minutes Tuesday in girls soccer.

But the Blazers scored twice in the final 20 minutes and beat Marion, 2-0.

Phillips finished with 14 saves.

Marion (8-7) opens Class 2A regional tournament play Thursday at Maquoketa.

Iehl, Jones hat tricks help Indians crush Hawks

Ashley Iehl and Holli Jones scored three goals apiece and Marion overwhelmed West Delaware, 9-0, Friday in girls soccer at Marion.

Haley Clifton, Lexie Rael and Lauren Rausch also scored goals for Marion.

Maddie Bach had three assists. Jones, Tessa Jordan, Grace Ehlinger and Amanda Sahm also had assists.

Marion keeper Abby Phillips had four saves.

Jones' goal lifts Marion past Bobcats

EPWORTH - Holli Jones scored the only goal of the game to lift Marion past Western Dubuque, 1-0, Tuesday in girls soccer.

Erica Kelly had an assist for Marion.

Abby Phillips had three saves in goal.

Rael scores a pair of goals to lead Indians

Lexie Rael scored a pair of goals to lead Marion past Vinton-Shellsburg, 3-0, Friday in girls soccer at Marion.

Rael's first goal was unassisted from about 30 yards out. Her second came on a penalty kick after Vinton-Shellsburg was called for a hand ball in the penalty box.

Erica Kelly's 40-yard boot scored the Indians' final goal.

Abby Phillips had two saves for Marion.
