Marion girls trimmed by Clippers, 2-1

TIFFIN - The Marion High School girls soccer team was nipped by Clear Creek Amana, 2-1, in a Wamac Conference match Tuesday at the CCA field.

Ashley Iehl scored for Marion and Emily Meeks had the assist.

It was only Marion's third game of the season, compared to eight games for the Clippers.

Solon edges Marion girls in shootout

SOLON - Solon beat Marion in a penalty-kick shootout, 2-1, Friday in girls soccer.

The score was tied, 1-1, at the end of regulation.

Lexie Rael scored a goal for Marion. Abby Phillips had 19 saves at keeper.

Allison McKinnie scored a goal for Solon.

Marion puts 9 on all-Wamac soccer

Nine soccer players from Marion High School have been named to the Wamac Conference all-star squads this season in the West Division.

Ryan Hagen was a first-team pick on the boys all-conference squad. Enoch Duval was named to the second team, while Spencer Henessee and Matthew Minks received honorable mention.

Lexie Rael was a first-team choice on the girls all-conference squad. Ashley Iehl and Lauren Rausch were second-team choices. Liz Deeney and Ciera Rodriguez received honorable mention.

Boys West Division Standings

1. Waterloo Columbus 7-0, 2. (tied) Benton Community 5-2, Center Point-Urbana 5-2, Clear Creek Amana 5-2, 5. Williamsburg 3-4, 6. Marion 2-5, 7. Vinton-Shellsburg 1-6, 8. Independence 0-7.

Girls West Division Standings

Marion routs Anamosa girls, 10-0

Erica Kelly scored three goals and Haley Clifton and Ashley Iehl connected twice as Marion whitewashed Anamosa, 10-0, in girls soccer Friday at Marion.

Kaitlin Henesee, Ciera Rodriguez and Lauren Rausch had a goal apiece for Marion.

Marion is 6-9, 4-8 in the Wamac.

Marion - Girls Soccer

Marion falls to CPU in girls soccer

CENTER POINT -- Seventh-ranked Center Point-Urbana peppered the goal and blanked Marion, 5-0, Thursday in Wamac girls soccer.

Marion's Liz Deeney, battling a leg injury, started at keeper but was lifted with 14 minutes left in the first half. She had six saves and the Stormin' Pointers scored two goals.

freshman Abby Phillips replaced Deeney and had 11 saves and gave up three goals.

Marion is 5-8 overall, 3-7 in the Wamac. CPU is 8-3.
