Rael, Denney lift Marion girls soccer

Lexie Rael snapped a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal late in the game as the Marion Indians trimmed Williamsburg, 1-0, in a Wamac Conference soccer game at Marion on Tuesday.

Rael scored the game-winner from about 35 yards. Liz Deeney had four saves in goal for Marion.

Marion girls tripped in a shootout

Marion battled back twice to tie the game, but lost in a shootout to Mount Vernon, 3-2, Monday in a girls soccer game at Marion.

Lexie Rael and Amanda Sahm scored goals for Marion. Stephanie Shinrock had an assist.

Marion keeper Liz Deeney had 15 saves.

Marion girls win 1st soccer game

Ciera Garcia, Ashley Iehl and Amanda Sahm scored goals to lead Marion to a 3-0 win over Benton Community in a Wamac Conference game Tuesday at Marion.

The win was Marion's first of the season. The Indians are 1-2 overall.

Sahm and Stephanie Shinrock had assists for Marion.
