Marion softball team nips Springville

The Marion Indians rallied from an early 4-0 deficit and trimmed Springville, 6-5, in a prep softball game Friday at Marion.

Bayley Fuller, Alicia Steepleton, Camryn Cannoy and Shannon Sellers had two hits for Marion. Sellers collected two RBIs.

Steepleton pitched a complete game for the victory as the Indians raised their record to 12-9. Springville fell to 7-10.

Chrissy Hoogland hit a home run for Springville.

Marion softball splits with DeWitt Central

DEWITT - The Marion High School softball team split a Wamac Conference doubleheader at DeWitt Central Thursday.

DeWitt Central won the first game, 2-1. Marion rebounded with a 10-7 victory in the nightcap.

The split left the Indians with an 11-9 record. DeWitt Central is 3-8.

Camryn Cannoy had two hits for Marion in the first game. Alicia Steepleton pitched a complete game for the Indians and was the hard-luck loser in the 2-1 setback.

Sydney Nielsen went 2-for-3 with four RBIs for Marion in the nightcap. Haley Dullea was 3-for-5 and scored three runs. Maddie Knapp was 3-for-5 and scored twice. Cannoy and Shannon Sellers had two hits. Megan Glovik drove in two runs.

Marion softball team splits at tourney

LE GRAND - The Marion High School softball team split its two games at the East Marshall tournament in Le Grand Saturday.

East Marshall blanked the Indians, 7-0, in the first game on a three-hitter by Mariah Fritz.

Marion won its second game against Aplington-Parkersburg, 8-5. Bayley Fuller socked a home run, drove in two runs and scored two runs. Maddie Knapp had two hits and Camryn Cannoy scored twice.

The split left the Indians with a 10-6 record.

Fuller, Nielsen power Marion

Bayley Fuller and Sydney Nielsen each hit homers as Marion rolled past North Cedar, 10-2, in softball action Tuesday night at Marion.

Nielsen had two hits and four RBIs. Fuller had two hits and a stolen base. Madison Wilson also had a pair of hits for the Indians.

Alicia Steepleton got the pitching win for Marion, allowing one earned run while striking out three.

Marion girls split with No.11 Clippers

The Marion High School softball team split a Wamac Conference doubleheader with 11th-ranked Clear Creek-Amana Monday night at the Marion field.

Clear Creek-Amana won the first game, 4-2. Marion took the nightcap, 9-8.

Megan Glovik had two RBIs for Marion in the first game. Camryn Cannoy was 2-for-3. Megan Beckler was 2-for-3 for Clear Creek-Amana.

Alicia Steepleton went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Indians in their 9-8 victory. Sydney Nielsen was 2-for-3. Bayley Fuller, Steepleton and Grace Byers scored two runs.
