Sade will join Nebraska-Omaha volleyball

Marion High School junior Isabella Sade plans to continue her volleyball career in college at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Sade, a 6-foot-2 hitter, entered Saturday's tournament in Waterloo with 150 kills, 52 blocks, 40 digs and 22 ace serves. She leads the Indians in kills and blocks.

Marion is ranked No. 2 in Class 4A.

Metro teams jockey in volleyball poll

You could probably throw a blanket over the volleyball teams at Prairie, Kennedy and Linn-Mar and pick a different winner every day.

The new Class 5A rankings were released Thursday by the IGHSAU and it showed Prairie at No. 5, Kennedy at No. 6 and Linn-Mar at No. 7 heading into the final weeks of the regular season.

Marion continued to be ranked No. 2 in Class 4A.

No. 2 Indians rally by No. 12 Indee

INDEPENDENCE - The second-ranked Marion Indians got stronger as the match went along Tuesday night and defeated 12th-ranked Independence, 20-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-13, in a battle of Wamac Conference powers at Independence.

Isabella Sade led Marion with 19 kills and four blocks. Caitlyn Smith provided 32 assists and 10 digs.

Morgan Swanger had nine kills and Olivia Frazier had eight. Tanea Westhoff furnished 18 digs. Kenzie Redmond had 13 digs and four aces. Haley Dullea contributed six digs.

Both teams compete in Class 4A.

4 Metro volleyball teams ranked again

There was little movement in the new high school volleyball rankings Thursday by the IGHSAU.

The Marion Indians stayed in the No. 2 spot in the Class 4A poll behind West Delaware. The Prairie Hawks remained No. 3 in Class 5A and the Kennedy Cougars stayed No. 5 in Class 5A.

The Linn-Mar Lions climbed two spots to No. 7 in Class 5A.

Bettendorf leads the 5A rankings, followed by Dowling.

Marion - Volleyball

No. 2 Indians hold off No. 15 Clippers

TIFFIN - The second-ranked Marion Indians got pushed to the limit by No. 15 Clear Creek-Amana Tuesday night before finally prevailing, 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13, in a thriller among Class 4A powers in Tiffin.

Marion raised its records to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in the Wamac Conference.

Kaela Halvorson led a balanced attack with 17 kills for the Indians. Alyssa Thomas had 15 kills, Olivia Frazier 13 and Isabella Sade 10.

Caitlyn Smith dished out 50 assists and had 11 digs. Tanea Westhoff had 17 digs and Morgan Swanger 12.
