Marion grapplers split openers

Levi Lochner and Dakota Peterson each recorded a pair of falls and Marion split its wrestling openers Tuesday night at Cedar Rapids Washington.

Marion beat Wamac Conference foe Maquoketa, 42-28. The Indians were beaten by Washington, 39-30.

Lochner, Peterson and Romello Olds had falls against Maquoketa. The Indians also won four forfeits.

Lochner, Peterson and Klein Walker had falls against Washington.

Lochner wins twice for Marion wrestlers

MOUNT PLEASANT - Levi Lochner won two matches for the Marion Indians at 138 pounds Thursday night during a non-conference double dual in Mount Pleasant.

Lochner pinned Zack Speidel of Pleasant Valley and defeated Michael Alderson of Mount Pleasant, 9-2.

Marion lost both matches, falling to Pleasant Valley (66-6) and Mount Pleasant (57-16). The Indians forfeited five bouts in both meets.

Marion matmen last at Wamac meet

DEWITT -- Marion finished last in the Wamac Conference wrestling tournament Saturday at DeWitt Central High School.

The Indians totaled 16 points in the 16-team tournament and did not have any wrestlers in the finals.

West Delaware dominated the meet, crowning five champions en route to 269 points. Solon was second with 169.5 and Williamsburg third with 154.5.

Lochner pin highlights Marion loss

DE WITT - Levi Lochner won the only wrestling match of the night for Marion, pinning his foe Thursday in a 51-12 loss to DeWitt Central.

Lochner flattened Central's Carter Cahill in 2:51 of their 138-pound match.

Marion got its other points from Tevin Mull, who won by forfeit at 120.
