MAQUOKETA - Keanu Quinn collected two pins at 195 pounds Thursday night to help the Marion Indians split a pair of Wamac Conference dual meets at Maquoketa.

The Indians lost to Solon, 48-24, and defeated Maquoketa, 42-33.

Zach Cochran (120), Caleb Conway (145), Colin Conway (152) and Jack Whitney (182) won both of their matches for Marion. Colin Conway had a pin in just 37 seconds.

Lembeck wears crown at Marion Invy

Clint Lembeck of Xavier captured the 138-pound title at the Loyd Shaffer Invitational Saturday at Marion High School.

Xavier, who is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, raised his record to 24-1 with a 10-4 victory over Sam Elliott of Northwest Blue Valley in the finals.

Williamsburg won the championship in the 12-team tournament. Marion finished sixth and Xavier placed seventh.

Marion got second-place showings from Caleb Conway (145) and Colin Conway (152). Trey Clifton finished third for the Indians at 138.

Xavier got a second-place finish from Jeff Vipond at 113. The Saints got third-place showings from Keegan Schultschik (120), Josh Gerke (145) and Alex Francois (220).

ANAMOSA - Trey Clifton and Colin Conway won both of their matches Thursday night as the Marion Indians split a pair of Wamac Conference wrestling meets in Anamosa.

The Indians topped Anamosa, 46-24, and were trimmed by Vinton-Shellsburg, 37-36.

Clifton collected two pins at 138 pins and Conway had two pins at 152.

Marion wrestlers split Wamac meets

The Marion wrestling team split a double dual Thursday at Marion, beating Benton Community 43-36 and losing to Center Point-Urbana 39-34 in Wamac Conference action.

Caleb Conway and Colin Conway had two pins at 145 and 152 pounds, respectively, to lead the Indians. Brady Bartz also had a major decision and a decision at 160.
