Blood siblings roll to state bowl

CLINTON - The Prairie boys and girls bowling teams could not quite score enough to make it to state during Thursday's state-qualifying meets.

But the Blood family will be headed to Des Moines for the Class 2A state tournament next Friday.

Rylee Blood shot a 462 series that was second-best girls' qualifying score in the state.

Her brother Nick Blood rolled a 469 series that also qualified for the state tournament.

Prairie - Boys Bowling

Scorching hot Saints torch Prairie bowlers

Xavier bowlers Caleb Miller and Zach Klimesh had the hot hand Tuesday, rolling series of 504 and 482, respectively, that led Xavier past Prairie, 3277-2954, in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Miller shot games of 226 and 278. The 278 was high game for the meet. Klimesh rolled games of 257 and 225.

Kirby Guge also was locked in, rolling games of 210 and 226 for a 436 series for the Saints. Kyle Elliott fired a 217 game and 418 series.

Red-hot Robe sets school record in rout

Linn-Mar's Dreyson Robe was atomic hot on the Cedar Rapids Bowl lanes Friday, firing games of 269 and 279 for a school-record series of 548 in the Lions' 3402-2485 whipping of Prairie in boys bowling.

Robe's series topped the old mark of 547 set by Robert Wyant.

Justin Wyant fired games of 231 and 277 for a 508 series for the Lions.

Prairie boys rally past Cedar Falls bowlers

Joshua Kacena and Nick Blood had high game and series, respectively, for Prairie and the Hawks rallied past Cedar Falls, 2719-2506, Friday in boys bowling at Lancer Lanes.

Kacena shot a 210 high game and Blood had a 393 series.

Prairie trailed by seven pins after the first round, but routed the Tigers by 220 pins in the Baker round.

Kacena hot for Prairie boys bowlers

DUBUQUE - Josh Kacena was on fire rolling games of 244 and 221 for a 465 series, but his Prairie Hawks were bowled over by Dubuque Wahlert, 2786-2267, Friday in boys bowling.

Prairie trailed by 188 pins after the first round, then got outscored by 331 pins in the Baker round.
