Hempstead hands Hawks 1st loss

DUBUQUE -- Hempstead built a 200-pin lead in the first round and beat Prairie, 2986-2770, Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at Bowling & Beyond.

The loss was the first for Prairie (9-1, 4-1 MVC). Sean Steichen had high game of 215 and Jeremy Cline high series of 385 for the Hawks.

Jake Jones had high game (234) and series (434) for Hempstead (5-0, 5-0 MVC).

Prairie wins own tournament

 Prairie knocked off Jefferson in the first round and went on to win the Prairie Invitational Baker boys’ bowling tournament Saturday (Dec. 18) at Lancer Lanes.

The Hawks lost only one game and won all five of its matches in the tournament.

Hawks roll to 4-0

Four Prairie bowlers cracked the 400 series barrier and the Hawks overwhelmed Washington, 3220-2681, Friday i(Dec. 17) n a Mississippi Valley Conference boys bowling meet at Lancer Lanes.

Nick Blood rolled high game (246) and series (463) for Prairie (4-0). Brogan Fiala had a 426 series, Sean Steichen 423 and Spencer Schultz 416. Schultz also rolled a 243 game.

Quincey Bruce had high game with a 428 for Washington (1-3). He finished with a 412 series. Zach Christensen had a 210 game and 402 series.

Hawks hold off Cougars’ late charge

Prairie built a 122-pin lead in the first round to hold off Kennedy’s charge in the Baker round and beat the Cougars, 2966-2955, Friday (Dec. 10) in an MVC match at Lancer Lanes.

Prairie had three bowlers break the 400 series barrier in the first round. Chase Becket rolled a 244-215 for high series at 459. Sean Steichen had a 231 high game and 441 series, Jeremy Cline a 404 series.

Corey Williams had high game (221) and series (415) for Kennedy.
