Prairie girls bump off Jefferson

The Prairie girls bowling team downed Jefferson 2,762 to 2,415 Friday at May City Bowl.

Megan Kitzmiller had a 203 game and 370 series for the J-Hawks. Madison Rasmussen was close behind with a 368 series.

Ashley Sundstrom rolled a 216 game and 404 series for the Prairie Hawks.

Early leads Hawks by IC West

Kaitlyn Early rolled a 223 game and a 425 series to lead the Prairie girls bowling team in a 2,680 to 1,970 win over Iowa City West on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Erica Roth had a 346 series to lead the Women of Troy.

Records fall as Prairie rolls L-M

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls bowling team opened their season with a pair of team records in a 3,024-2,160 win over Linn-Mar at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Prairie's team score broke the school record of 2,936 set in 2014 as did its Baker Series total of 1,106, breaking the old mark of 1,088, also set in 2014.

Kaitlyn Early led Prairie with a 435. Makena Dirks led Linn-Mar with a 324.

Jeff, Prairie shine at state bowling

DES MOINES - The Cedar Rapids Jefferson boys placed second at the Class 3A state bowling tournament at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines Wednesday.

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls, led by a pair of freshmen, finished third in their tournament.

Marshalltown won the Class 3A boys title at 3139. Jefferson finished second at 3022, followed by Muscatine (3019).

Brandon Freese of Marshalltown captured the individual crown with a 490 series. Chaise Donner of Jefferson was fifth (452), Bryan Cline of Washington was seventh (443) and Hunter Sturtz of Jefferson tied for eighth (439).

Johnston claimed top honors in the girls meet at 2989, followed by Ottumwa (2905) and Prairie (2806). Jade Klinefelter of Prairie tied for sixth in the individual standings (423) and Mikayla Hite tied for 10th (394). Klinefelter and Hite are both ninth graders.

Loyal Ulm of Johnson won the individual title with a 460 series.

Prairie bowlers push Waterloo West girls

WATERLOO – Ashley Grady bowled a 234 game and Rylee Blood had a 416 series to lead the Prairie girls bowling team in a 2,897 to 2,816 loss to undefeated Waterloo West on Friday at Maple Lanes.

The Prairie Hawks finished 9-2 in the regular season.

Katlyn Bracken rolled a 427 series to lead the Wahawks (12-0).
