Young Prairie bowlers dedicated to the sport

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls bowling team has only 14 members this season, but Coach Don Willfong likes their dedication.

Most of them bowl in leagues during the entire year with spring, summer and fall leagues in addition to the high school season. That's what it takes to improve.

"The girls are starting to gel pretty well," Willfong said. "They're not looking too bad."

Five of the top-6 bowlers are back from a club that finished 4-7 in Mississippi Valley Conference meets last season with Jami Kadolph, Kate Palmer, Rebecca Kacena, Nioma Bruce and Brittany Meyers. "They'll be my starters this year," Willfong said.

Brianna Wagner graduated, with sophomore Hailey Tollefson her likely replacement. It's a young team with four sophomores, one junior and only one senior.
