Kamin wins meet; Fisher fires ace

MJ Kamin of Washington took medalist honors Thursday with a 4-over-par 39 in a quadrangular golf meet at Airport National.

Kamin edged Emily Machula and Emily Perrin of Prairie by one shot.

Kennedy Fisher of Prairie collected a hole-in-one on the ninth hole.

Washington nipped Prairie for the title, 170-173. Jefferson finished third at 228. Davenport Central entered two golfers in the meet.

WASHINGTON: MJ Kamin 39, Kandis O'Donnell 42, Mady Goodwin 43, Hannah Harberts 46, Devon O'Donnell 49, Grace Claassen 49.

PRAIRIE: Emily Machula 40, Emily Perrin 40, Kennedy Fisher 45, Sydney Stolba 48, Grace Lindgren 50, Hannah Stebral 50, Mallory Bennett 53.

JEFFERSON: Regan Grekoff 53, Emily Smith 53, Cassidy Simpson 58, Holly Moershel 64.

Bertsch sparks Saints to title

Maddie Bertsch fired a 75 Tuesday to grab medalist honors and help the Xavier Saints tie Pleasant Valley for top honors at the Linn-Mar Invitational at Hunters Ridge.

It was Xavier's second major title of the spring, following its championship at the CRANDIC meet last week at Twin Pines.

Grace Winker of Xavier finished fourth in the individual standings with an 84.

Hargens leads Cougars at Brown Deer

IOWA CITY - Sierra Hargens shot an 8-over-par 44 Tuesday as Kennedy placed third in a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet at Brown Deer.

Emily Machula and Emily Perrin had 52's for Prairie, which finished fourth.

Kamin shares top spot at Airport National

Cedar Rapids Washington senior MJ Kamin fired a 5-over-par 37 Tuesday to share medalist honors at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet at Airport National.

Kamin tied Sarah Overton of Iowa City High with the best round of the day.

Wahlert won the meet at 169.

1. Wahlert 169, 2. Washington 179, 3. Prairie 193, 4. Iowa City High 194.

Washington: MJ Kamin 37, Mady Goodwin 42, Hannah Harberts 50, Kandis O'Donnell 50, Kate Nash 57, Anna Rohde 59.

Utter in 33rd at state golf

PANORA - Cedar Rapids Washington's MJ Kamin shot a 9-over par 81 Tuesday and is in seventh place after the first round of the Class 5A state girls golf tournament at Lake Panorama National Golf Course.

Kamin is five strokes behind Anna Cullinan of Pleasant Valley and Kelsy Shay of Waukee.

Kennedy's Ali Lindo is tied for 12th with an 85. She is nine shots back.

Prairie's Taylor Utter shot a 95 and is tied for 33rd.
