Warriors grind past Moline, 48-42

MOLINE, Ill. — Frank Howell would prefer to play fast and win games with his full court press. But Saturday afternoon (Dec. 4) the Warriors did it the hard way.

Washington (3-0) won a non-conference road battle with Moline, 48-42, with only one player in double-figure scoring. Rebounding was the key, Howell said.

“We talked about making sure we rebounded the basketball and to win 29-20 overall in that department was really a key element of the game,” Howell said.

Howell likes what he sees in his team so far this season.

Roundtree, Oney spark Warrior victory

WATERLOO – The vocal front-row student section at Waterloo West High School wore pink T-shirts that read “Pappas’ Posse” on Friday night (Dec. 3). But the real noise came from the Warriors vaunted 1-2-1-1 full court press.

Alissa Oney hit four 3-pointers and Latasha Roundtree helped spark a big third quarter as No. 6 Washington forced 22 turnovers and overcame No. 10 Waterloo West, 65-42 in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at the Wahawk Gym.
