Visser leads Wash girls over Grinnell

Annie Visser scored 20 points as the Washington girls basketball team rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to beat Grinnell 57-45 at Washington.

The Warriors went on a 21-13 run in the third quarter to take the lead, and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Courtney Squires had 10 points for Washington (5-6), and Kandis O’Donnell added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Wash girls defeated by Hempstead

DUBUQUE - Jessica Brown popped in four 3-pointers and scored 24 points Friday night as Dubuque Hempstead topped Washington, 54-43, in a Mississippi Valley Conference basketball game in Dubuque.

Allie Semrau led Washington (4-6) with 12 points.

Hempstead paraded to the foul line and outscored the Warriors at the charity stripe, 23-6.

Kandis O’Donnell had 11 points as the Washington girls basketball team fell to No. 7 Iowa City High 46-32 Tuesday at Washington.

Courtney Joens had 20 points to lead the Little Hawks, who improved to 8-2.

Washington fell to 4-5.

Iowa City West downs Washington

IOWA CITY – The fourth-ranked Iowa City West girls basketball team dominated Washington 67-21 Friday at Iowa City West.

Anne Visser had seven points to lead the Warriors, who fell to 4-5.

Mikaela Morgan had 15 points and Dani Craig added 11 for the Women of Troy (8-0).

O'Donnell helps Wash top No.10 Cougars

There is life after Dani Franklin and Aleena Hobbs.

The Washington Warriors proved that Tuesday night with a convincing 53-46 victory over 10th-ranked Kennedy in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Kennedy.

Franklin and Hobbs enjoyed prolific careers for the Warriors before heading to college this year, with Franklin at Valparaiso University and Hobbs practically across the street at Coe, but the Warriors still have some arrows in their quiver.

Kandis O'Donnell led Washington with 13 points and six assists Tuesday in their best win of the year.

"I feel very excited," said O'Donnell, a 5-foot-11 senior. "I couldn't be more proud of our team.
