Washington girls trim Moline

MOLINE, Ill. - The Cedar Rapids Washington girls basketball team squared its overall record at 3-3 Saturday by nipping Moline, 39-38, in Illinois.

Anne Visser led the Warriors with nine points. Courtney Squires collected six points, five assists and five steals.

Alyssa Brems scored 12 points for Moline (4-6).

WASHINGTON (39): Clark 2 0-0 4, Semrau 2 0-0 4, Visser 4 1-2 9, Corey 0 0-0 0, Hartman 1 0-0 2, Squires 2 2-2 6, Arrington 1 0-0 2, Bruner 1 0-0 2, Puk 0 4-4 4, O'Donnell 2 1-3 5, Oler 0 0-0 0, Johnson 0 1-2 1, Cullen 0 0-0 0. Totals 15 9-13 39.

Wash girls fall short to Tigers

CEDAR FALLS - Emma Gerdes and Adrienne Boettger combined for 41 points Tuesday night as Cedar Falls clipped Washington, 67-60, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game in Cedar Falls.

Gerdes led the Tigers (3-1, 2-1) with 21 points and Boettger popped in 20.

Kandis O'Donnell paced Washington with 16 points. Anne Visser netted 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Warriors (2-2, 1-2).

Wash girls fall in Dubuque

DUBUQUE - The Dubuque Senior Rams pulled away from Washington in the fourth quarter Friday night and topped the Warriors, 60-49, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque.

The Rams led 37-36 after three quarters, but they outscored the visitors 23-13 to claim the victory.

Kandis O'Donnell scored 13 points for Washington (2-1).

Emma Noel led Dubuque Senior (2-1) with 26 points. Makenzie Williams added 18 for the Rams. Noel and Williams scored 22 of their 44 points at the foul line.

Warrior girls pull away from Central

DAVENPORT - It was a battle most of the way, but the Washington girls basketball team managed to pull away from Davenport Central for a 61-40 non-conference road win Thursday night.

The Warriors (2-0) were led by forward Kandis O'Donnell's 12 point and five rebound performance to take out the winless Blue Devils (0-3).

Washington led 31-25 at the half and put the Blue Devils away in the final quarter.

Alexandra Semrau added eight points and four boards for the Warriors.

Visser scores 14 as Washington tops Wahlert 56-48

Anne Visser led a balanced attack with 14 points as the Washington girls basketball team beat Dubuque Wahlert 56-48 to open the season Tuesday at Washington.

Courtney Squires had 13 points for the Warriors, Joniqua Clark had nine, and Kandis O’Donnell added eight.

Charlotte Flynn led Wahlert (1-1) with 14 points.
