Sutton fires 32; Wash tips Cougars

Cedar Rapids Kennedy junior Davis Sutton collected four straight birdies Thursday and fired a 4-under-par 32 on the front-9 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion.

Sutton began his streak with a birdie-4 on the 6th hole and followed with birdies on the 7th, 8th and 9th holes as well.

Frank Lindwall of Washington and Matt Bauman of Cedar Falls tied for second place at 1-under 35 in the Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet.

Rodriguez, Patterson spark Wash golfers

CEDAR FALLS - Dominic Rodriguez and Jake Patterson shared medalist honors at 1-under-par 35 Monday to help the Washington Warriors win a Mississippi Valley Conference triangular meet at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls.

The Warriors finished with a four-man total of 145 for nine holes. Jefferson placed second at 155 and Cedar Falls was third at 167.

Mitch Willems, Zach Denny and Adam Van Oort led the J-Hawks at 2-over 38.

Jackson paces Wash golfers to win

DUBUQUE - Will Jackson fired a 1-over-par 36 Wednesday as the Washington Warriors trounced Dubuque Hempstead, 151-180, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Bunker Hill in Dubuque.

Waterloo East also competed, but did not have a full team.

Max Claassen shot a 2-over 37 for the Warriors.

Washington - Will Jackson 36, Max Claassen 37, Dominic Rodriguez 39, Jabe Gonder 39, Frank Lindwall 42, Evan Jankwietz 42, Joe Slattery 43.

Rodriguez leads Warrior golfers to win

Dominic Rodriguez shot a 1-under par 35 to lead Washington to a 14-stroke victory Thursday in a boys triangular golf meet at Gardner golf course.

Will Jackson shot a 37 and Joe Slattery a 39 for the Warriors.

Iowa City West was second, Dubuque Senior third.

Warriors claim IC West golf title

RIVERSIDE -- Dominic Rodriguez shot a 5-over-par 77 Tuesday to help the Cedar Rapids Washington Warriors win the Iowa City West Invitational at the Blue Top Ridge golf course in Riverside.

The Warriors scored 330 to win the five-team meet by four shots over Burlington.

Noah Federici of Iowa City West captured medalist honors with a 4-over 76. Rodriguez was the runner-up for Washington.

1. Washington 330, 2. Burlington 334, 3. Dubuque Wahlert 337, 4. Iowa City West 341, 5. Iowa City High 386.
