Valley boys topples Washington 110-60

Nick Saulnier and Jared Thorson each won two events, but the eighth-ranked West Des Moines Valley boys swimming team hammered No. 8 Washington 110-60 Saturday at Washington.

Saulnier won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in 1 minute, 47.15 seconds and 4:53.68, respectively, for the Warriors. Thorson won the 50 freestyle (22.49) and 100 butterfly (53.25).

Washington - Boys Swimming

Warriors swamps Cougars 93-77

The Washington boys swimming team won 10 of 11 events and beat Kennedy 93-77 Tuesday at Kennedy.

Cameron Kelley won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in 1 minute, 53.18 seconds and 5:13.15, respectively, for the Warriors. Nick Saulnier won the 200 individual medley (2:02.96) and 100 backstroke (54.96), Jared Thorson won the 50 freestyle (22.12) and 100 freestyle (49.38), and Matt Jackson won the 100 butterfly (57.97).

Washington also won the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

Stefan Kitsos won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.63 for the Cougars.

Washington swimmers nipped by Rams

The Cedar Rapids Washington boys swimming team won eight of 11 events Thursday but was edged by Dubuque Senior, 85-84, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at the Washington pool.

Jared Thorson won the 50 free and 100 fly for Washington and swam on two victorious relays. Cameron Kelley captured the 200 IM and 100 free and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

Saulnier wins four events

Nick Saulnier had a hand in winning four events as the Washington boys swimming team beat Bettendorf 91-79 Tuesday at Washington.

Saulnier won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles and the 100 backstroke for the Warriors, and led off the winning 200 freestyle relay.

Jared Thorson won the 50 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 medley relay, Cameron Kelley also won the 500 freestyle and anchored the 200 freestyle relay.

Thorson, Kelley pace Wash swimmers

Jared Thorson and Cameron Kelley won four events Thursday night as Washington topped Jefferson, 113-57, in a Mississippi Valley Conference swim meet at Washington.

Thorson claimed the 50 free and 500 free and swam on two winning relays. Kelley took the 200 IM and 100 fly and also swam on two triumphant relays.

Kaleb Donels was a triple-winner for the Warriors.
