Thorson wins 4 events for Warriors

BETTENDORF - Jared Thorson captured four events for the Washington Warriors Tuesday during their 91-79 loss to Bettendorf in a non-conference swimming meet in Bettendorf.

Thorson claimed the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. He also swam on the victorious 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Nick Saulnier, Sami Scheetz and Nick Durin were double-winners for the Warriors.

Washington - Boys Swimming

Warriors swim past J-Hawks, 105-62

Jefferson got Washington's attention by claiming first and second in the first event of Thursday's dual meet at the J-Hawk pool.

And the Warriors came roaring back.

Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier were quadruple winners, and Cameron Kelley was a triple winner in leading Washington to a 105-62 win.

Thorson, Saulnier lead Warrior tankers

Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier won four events apiece to power Washington past Iowa City High, 119-41, Tuesday night in boys swimming at Washington.

Thorson won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke and swam legs on the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

Saulnier won the 200 and 500 free, and swam on the 200 and 400 free relays.

Washington won all but one event.

Wash swimmers win 4 events in Ames

AMES - Cedar Rapids Washington junior Jared Thorson collected three gold medals Saturday to help the Warriors finish second at the Mike Wittmer Invitational swimming meet in Ames.

Thorson captured the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and swam on the triumphant 200 medley relay with Nick Saulnier, Nick Durin and Jakob Kehoe.

Thorson nipped Steve Fiolic of Johnston in the 50 freestyle in 22.38 seconds.

Saulnier won the 100 backstroke for Washington.

Washington - Boys Swimming

Thorson, Saulnier set meet swim records

Washington's Jared Thorson and Nick Saulnier set two records apiece Tuesday in the boys Metro swimming meet at Kennedy.

Thorson, a junior, set records in the 50 freestyle (21.93 seconds) and 100 butterfly (53.91).

Saulnier, a sophomore, set records in the 200 individual medley (2:00.89) and 100 backstroke (52.92).

Washington freshman Cameron Kelley set a meet record in the 200 free (1:51.00). He also won the 500 free (4:59.56).
