Prairie girls pop into soccer rankings

New coach Doug Graham has steered Cedar Rapids Prairie into the girls soccer rankings.

The Hawks are ranked 10th this week in Class 3A, the IGHSAU announced Friday. Kennedy, which was ranked No.7, dropped out of the rankings this week and other teams moved up, making room for Prairie in the top 10.

The Linn-Mar Lions are ranked No. 2 again in Class 3A, trailing Bettendorf in the big-school ratings.

The Xavier Saints are ranked No. 2 again in Class 2A, trailing North Scott.

No. 2 Lions trim Saints in soccer

Claire Larson scored the game's only goal in the second half Thursday night as Linn-Mar edged Xavier, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Linn-Mar Stadium.

Linn-Mar is ranked No.2 in Class 3A, while Xavier is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.

Saints kick Wash girls in 2 OT

It took a long time for anyone to score Tuesday night when the Xavier and Washington girls soccer teams met at Kingston Stadium, but somebody finally did.

Addy Hoffman scored 3 minutes, 9 seconds into the second overtime as the Saints topped the Warriors, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference defensive struggle under the lights.

Xavier is ranked No.2 in Class 2A.

Xavier girls drop to No.2 in rankings

The Xavier Saints have been knocked off their perch as the top-ranked team in the Class 2A girls soccer rankings.

The Saints fell to the No.2 spot in the poll released Friday by the IGHSAU. North Scott, which was No.2, moved into the No.1 spot in Class 2A.

Linn-Mar is ranked No.2 in Class 3A and Kennedy is ranked No.7 in Class 3A.
