Xavier girls blanked by IC West

IOWA CITY - The Xavier girls soccer team managed only one shot on goal Tuesday night and lost to Iowa City West, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Iowa City.

Iowa City West, which is ranked No.3 in Class 3A, scored a goal in each half.

Holly Hazelton made seven saves for Xavier, which is ranked No.1 in Class 2A.

Xavier girls stay No. 1 in soccer poll

The Xavier Saints held onto the No.1 spot in the Class 2A girls soccer rankings Friday.

The Saints, who have won eight state titles in a row, have been ranked No.1 all year.

The Linn-Mar Lions remained No.2 in the Class 3A poll. Kennedy climbed one notch to No.8 in the 3A rankings.

No. 1 Saints roll by Wahlert

DUBUQUE - Sydney Wright scored two goals Thursday as the Xavier Saints blanked Dubuque Wahlert, 4-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.

Lizzy Bailey and Josie Fuhrman also scored for the Saints, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.

Marisa Berutti collected three assists. Bailey and Fuhrman also had assists.

Xavier out-shot Wahlert, 39-4, and had 11 shots on goal. Holly Hazelton had to make only two saves for the Saints.

No. 1 Saints blank J-Hawks in soccer

Katie Ives scored two goals Tuesday as Class 2A second-ranked Xavier blanked Jefferson, 4-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Xavier.

Lizzy Bailey and Sydney Wright notched the other goals for the Saints.

Xavier peppered the J-Hawks with 39 shots, including 17 on goal. Jefferson managed only four shots on goal in the game.

Marisa Berutti collected all four assists for Xavier.
