Xavier boys get past Camanche

The Xavier boys tennis team won the close matches and it proved to be the difference as the Saints downed visiting Camanche, 6-3, on Thursday.

Jon Lansing, Charlie Esker and the doubles team of Esker and Jack VonKampen all came through with wins after splitting the first two sets.

Xavier boys blanked by Trojans

IOWA CITY - The second-ranked Iowa City West boys tennis team blanked Xavier, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Iowa City Tuesday.

Jack VonKampen of Xavier had a good battle with Billy Goins at No. 4 singles before falling, 7-6, 7-6.

Saints net win over Columbus

Xavier won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles matches en route to an 8-1 non-conference win over Waterloo Columbus on Friday at Xavier.

Ben Curley was an impressive 6-0, 6-1 winner over Francis Hart at No. 1 singles.

Xavier boys split two MVC meets

The Xavier boys tennis team split two Mississippi Valley Conference meets in Blackhawk County Saturday.

The Saints blanked Waterloo West, 9-0, and were trimmed by Cedar Falls, 5-4.

Ben Curley rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Waterloo West. Jack VonKampen won both of his matches for the Saints.
