Saints boys split road tennis meets

The Xavier boys split a pair of road tennis meets Saturday.

The Saints swatted Waterloo West, 8-1, then were blanked by Cedar Falls, 9-0.

Bill Young defeated Tom Richter at No.1 singles in the West meet. The Saints only one set.

Warriors blank Saints in tennis

Mitch Blades defeated Bill Young at No.1 singles, 6-4, 6-3, as the Washington Warriors swept the Xavier Saints 9-0 in boys tennis at Xavier Tuesday.

Jackson Hoyt, Ian Schweiger, Reid Rossberger, Oliver Hammond and Grant Kamin also won their singles matches for Washington.

Xavier boys sweep MVC foes

DUBUQUE - Mitch Steffensmeier, Grant Hunt and Zach Schowalter won both of their singles matches Saturday as the Xavier Saints swept a pair of Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meets in Dubuque.

The Saints topped Dubuque Senior, 5-4, and defeated Dubuque Wahlert, 6-3.

Xavier's doubles teams of Kyle D'Mello/Hunt and Ben Curley/Schowalter also won both of their matches.

The Xavier Saints dumped Iowa City High, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meet at Xavier Tuesday.

Bill Young, Kyle D'mello, Mitch Steffensmeier, Grant Hunt and Ben Curley won their singles matches for the Saints.
