Saints whipped by Warriors boys

Washington won three singles matches by tiebreakers and blanked Xavier, 9-0, Tuesday in boys tennis at Xavier.

Charlie Hammond def. Noah Schmall, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Mitch Blades, Clayton Hoyt and Cole Rahtigan won third set tiebreakers for the Warriors.

Hammond and Mitch Anderson teamed up to win No. 1 doubles.

Saints stumble against Cougar boys

Riley Galbraith, Dan Wasta, Ethan Gascho, Nolan Nietert, Robert Sweet and Bryce Blomberg won all six singles matches Monday as Kennedy topped Xavier, 7-2, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Xavier.

Galbraith defeated Noah Schmall, 6-1, 6-3, at No.1 singles.

Saints split in boys tennis at Dubuque

DUBUQUE -- Xavier split with Dubuque Senior and Dubuque Wahlert Saturday in a pair of boys tennis meets.

The Saints smashed Senior, 9-0, in the morning. Wahlert beat the Saints, 6-3, in the afternoon.

Xavier's Noah Rickertsen won twice in singles and once in doubles to lead the Saints.

Short-handed Lions make short work of Saints

A little bit of illness at the top of the lineup and a school conflict at the bottom couldn't stop the Linn-Mar Lions from rolling past Xavier, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys tennis meet.

The Lions were without No. 1 singles player Brady Anderson, who was out with the flu, and No. 6 singles player Jack Frank, who had a school commitment.

Tyler McCann stepped in at No. 1 and beat Xavier's Noah Schmall, 6-2, 6-3, to start the Linn-Mar rout.

Seven of Linn-Mar's wins were in straight sets.

"We had some guys out tonight but we didn't miss a beat," Linn-Mar Coach Chris Wundram said. "Our guys stepped up and played tough against a good Xavier team."

The Lions improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the MVC.
