Jones smashes 800 records for J-Hawks
DUBUQUE - Cedar Rapids Jefferson senior Timauntay Jones shattered a pair of ancient records in the 800-meter run Monday when he was timed in 1 minute, 53.36 seconds at the MVC Mississippi Division meet in Dubuque.
Jones broke the Jefferson school record of 1:55.4 that was set by Ralf Trimble in 1959. He also broke the Mississippi Valley Conference mark of 1:53.6 that was established by Mark Steffen of Davenport West in 1968.
Jones, who has signed to run at the University of Northern Iowa, was named the Mississippi Division Athlete of the Year for his exploits.
