Cedar Valley girls fall at NU High

CEDAR FALLS - Rachel Nuhn scored 12 points Saturday as Northern University High School of Cedar Falls defeated Cedar Valley, 54-28, in a girls basketball game in Cedar Falls.

Shelby Hembera led Cedar Valley (2-13) with 11 points. Ellen Rodriguez scored nine points.

Anna Backstrom and Sylvia Amlie contributed 11 markers for NU High (7-12).

CEDAR VALLEY (28): Cach 0 4-6 4, Hoffman 2 0-0 4, Wood 0 0-0 0, Hembera 3 5-8 11, Rodriguez 2 5-6 9. Totals 7 14-20 28.

Cedar Valley girls fall at Morning Star

BETTENDORF - The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team had a three-point lead over Morning Star Academy in the second half Thursday night, but the Huskies couldn't hang on.

"We just couldn't hit a bucket in the third quarter," Cedar Valley Coach Craig Foote reported.

Morning Star captured the game, 36-31, avenging a 59-44 loss to Cedar Valley three weeks ago.

Shelby Hembera led Cedar Valley (2-12) with 14 points. Ellen Rodriguez scored eight points and Lindsey Cach had seven.

Ashton Glaus paced Morning Star (8-9) with 16 points. Rachel Tubbs scored 11 points.

CEDAR VALLEY (31): Hembera 6 2-3 14, Wood 0 0-0 0, Silver 0 0-0 0, Hoffman 1 0-3 2, Cach 2 3-4 7, Rodriguez 4 0-0 8. Totals 13 5-10 31.

Cedar Valley girls fall at Goose Lake

GOOSE LAKE - Freshman Shelby Hembera scored 20 points Tuesday night as the Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team lost to Northeast, 65-43.

Senior Ellen Rodriguez added 12 points for the Huskies (2-11).

Catrina Jargo and Addie Oberman led Northeast (7-9) with 17 points apiece.

Huskies fall to Springville girls

SPRINGVILLE - Shelby Hembera and Ellen Rodriguez combined for 17 points in a losing effort Saturday as Cedar Valley Christian fell to Springville, 44-27, in girls basketball.

Hembera had nine points and Rodriguez eight for the Huskies (2-10).

Springville is 6-8.

Cedar Valley girls fall at Highland

RIVERSIDE - The Cedar Valley Christian girls basketball team made it halfway to a victory Monday night, but turnovers proved to be their undoing.

Highland of Riverside rallied from a halftime deficit and clipped the Huskies, 50-38.

Cedar Valley led at halftime, 20-14, before turnovers and fatigue turned things around in the second half.

Shelby Hembera led the Huskies (2-9) with 15 points. Izzy Hoffman scored nine points.

Breanna Hall, a 6-foot senior, led Highland (7-7) with 12 points. Paige Wieland and Emily Wieland scored 10 points apiece.

CEDAR VALLEY (38): Hembera 3 9-14 15, Wood 0 0-0 0, Silver 0 0-0 0, Hoffman 3 3-4 9, Cach 3 1-2 7, Rodriguez 1 5-6 7. Totals 10 18-26 38.
