Cedar Valley wins first volleyball match in IGHSAU

The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team enjoyed an historic victory Monday night.

The Huskies won their first match since joining the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union this year with a 25-18, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21 victory over the Meskwaki Settlement School.

Cedar Valley Christian was winless in its first eight dates this season, including dual meets and tournaments, before breaking into the victory column at home.

Jessie Walsh led the Huskies with 15 assists, seven kills, six aces and five digs. Carly Silver collected five aces and four assists.

Lindsey Cach had eight kills, Izzy Hoffman seven kills, Maria Sequeira five kills and Taylor McElree four kills. Sequeira had six digs and Hannah Reinhart contributed five assists.

Walsh named to all-tournament team

BELLEVUE - Jessie Walsh of Cedar Valley Christian was named to the all-tournament team Saturday at the Bellevue Marquette volleyball tournament.

The Huskies, still seeking their first victory of the year, gave Prince of Peace a good battle before falling 22-20, 20-22, 15-11.

Cedar Valley Christian lost its other matches to Bellevue Marquette (21-6, 21-7), Morning Star (21-5, 21-9), Bellevue (21-7, 21-19) and Preston (21-12, 21-7).

Bellevue Marquette won the tournament with a 5-0 record.

Carly Silver, Maria Sequeira, Lindsay Cach, Taylor Fields and Walsh led Cedar Valley in the tournament.

CVC spikers lose tough match at GMG Garwin

GARWIN - The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team came close to winning its first match of the season Thursday night before falling in five sets at GMG Garwin.

The Huskies won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-12, but GMG Garwin rallied to win the last three sets 25-12, 25-8 and 15-10.

"Kind of disappointing since we thought we were on our way to our first victory, but we are one step closer," CVC Principal and Coach Jeff Pospisil remarked.

Lindsey Cach had 14 kills for Cedar Valley Christian, Maria Sequeira had 10 assists and seven digs, Jessie Walsh had three kills, three aces and five digs.

Cedar Valley spikers fall at Morningstar

BETTENDORF - The Cedar Valley Christian volleyball team was defeated by Morningstar Academy, 25-14, 25-11, 25-18, in a dual meet Thursday.

Lindsey Cach had four kills for Cedar Valley, Hannah Reinhart had eight digs and Jessie Walsh contributed five digs.

East Buchanan bests CVC spikers

East Buchanan swept three sets from Cedar Valley Christian and beat the Huskies 25-9, 25-20, 25-9 in volleyball Tuesday night at Cedar Valley Christian School.

Jessie Walsh had three kills, seven digs and an ace for CVC, and Taylor Fields had 10 digs.

Despite dropping to 0-14, CVC Coach Jeff Pospisil said he sees improvement in the team.

"The girls are improving each time they play," Pospisil said. "Our youth and inexperience really shows at times, but the girls are working hard and continue to get better."
